God of love, I   thank you.

For meeting me   here.

For receiving me   as your child.

For enfolding me   in love.

For giving me the   strength I need.

For leading me   forward from this moment.

God of love, I   thank you.

2005.

22.

May our generous   God fill your hands with blessing.

May our gracious   God fill your hearts with love.

And may our gentle   God fill your hopes with transforming power,

this day and   forever.

O God of love,

you have given a   wealth of wonderful things.

Like a wise and   careful parent, you have shown us

how to appreciate   all that is good.

Grateful for all   you have given, we ask you for more.

Trusting you with   those we love, we dare to believe

that your grace   can reach and touch

all for whom we   pray……

The suffering in   our hearts,

when we are angry,   lonely, anxious or in pain:

We surrender to you, loving God

The suffering of   family and friends,

when we share   their anguish,

but cannot help   them in their time of need:

We surrender to you, loving God.

The suffering in   our neighbourhoods,

when we see what   needs to be done

or what needs to   be done better,

and long for   things to change:

We surrender to you, loving God.

The suffering of   the world,

which is so great   that we struggle to remember

that your grace is   greater still:

We surrender to you, loving God.

O God of love,

from your unlimited compassion

and in boundless mercy,

you have given us hope for ourselves,

for one another and for all the earth.

2010-2011,   developed in collaboration with the Rev Ian Coates.

What gift would   you ask for them today?

Love. Joy.   Peace. Patience. Kindness.   Generosity. Wisdom. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Courage.   self-control. Strength for   endurance. Hope. Something else?

Imagine God   placing that gift in their hands.   Imagine them holding it, opening it, using it to face whatever they   need to face. Imagine that gift   equipping them to do whatever they need to do.

Generous God, you   have lavished upon us

a wealth of   wonderful things.

Like a wise and   loving parent, you have shown us

how to appreciate   all that is good.

Grateful for all   you have given, we ask for more.

We trust you for   those we love.

We dare to believe   that your grace can reach

and touch those   for whom we pray………..

Names and situations can be offered aloud, or in   silence.
